AHMED RAHMAN
Mr. Ahmed has a Bachelor in Arts, majoring in Economics from University of Michigan, USA. He has worked with the Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai, Pakistan, Sri Lanka; and with the American Express Bank, Pakistan.
He attended a senior Management Programme at INSEAD (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affairs), France; and TEMPLETON leadership Programme at Oxford University, England. His views on development in different fields have been expressed in many articles, speeches, lectures and working papers on Islamic Economics, Banking and Education.
He has spent nearly thirty years in senior management position at multinational banks. He has worked as Chief Executive and had direct responsibilities for risk and wholesale banking.
Before INCEIF (International Center for Education in Islamic Finance, in Malaysia), he became the Chief Executive Officer of Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia in 2006. At that bank, he had a very important experience in setting up and launching retail and wholesale Islamic bank from producing of license to more than 20 branches when he left. Meanwhile,he guided the team to improve innovative Islamic product solutions for markets in Malaysia. He also organized a comprehensive strategic branding exercise to introduce the brand in a new country coupled by a dominating sales pattern to introduce the product into the markets.
Al Rajhi has gained some awards in a very short period since the beginning such as “Best Retail Islamic Bank”, “Islamic deal of the year in Asia”, “Top ten best employer in Malaysia and top twenty five best employer in Asia Pacific by Aon Hewitt”.
